News came through today that Robinvale's hottest basketball property (sorry Steve) has been selected to tour the USA with the Kingston Basketball Academy Squad.
Salutu Felise, 11 year old son of Luka & Libby has been working so hard on his basketball this seems like the reward he, and his dedicated family deserve.
The Kingston Basketball Academy is based in three locations around Melbourne; Keysborough, Casey and Bentleigh.
An elite basketball academy that Salutu's family had heard about through friends and the basketball network.
After some further research and a conversation with Salutu to make sure it was something he wanted to pursue, it was decided that an application would be submitted. A decision which 20,000 elite and aspiring basketballers decide to do, which leads to a spot on the 2020 USA Basketball Tour Squad.
Within the application some film of Salutu's games in tournaments where he was named MVP were submitted, filmed by his parents, along with his most current basketball stats which show he's now at a 20.1 point average per game and his dominance in his preferred position of centre.
After a nervous wait, a response from Kingston was received today stating that the coaches love what they see and offering Salutu a position.
The trip itinerary includes a one week training camp in Melbourne before the team plays in the 2020 Melbourne Tigers Tournament.
They then fly directly to LA where they will spend two and a half weeks travelling around Hollywood, Venice beach and even Las Vegas.
The team play three tournaments in the States and in their spare time they'll get to go sight seeing and see some WNBA games and they get NBA summer league passes.
Although it's a trip of a lifetime it's does not come for free so a fundraising campaign will be established shortly.
