A Grade

REFNC 33 defeated by Mildura 52

Best: Jorja Delcastegne and Jemma Meehan.

On Saturday, the Robinvale Euston girls took on Mildura in what was always going to be a tough match on Mildura’s home court. Once again, the weather added to the challenge, with another hot day on the netball court.

Mildura came out strong from the outset, but the Robinvale Euston girls never gave up. The defensive end did an outstanding job, boosted by the addition of Jemma Meehan for the weekend—she certainly didn’t disappoint. The defenders were kept on their toes and gave it their all right until the final whistle.

The attacking end faced a determined Mildura defence but continued to push through the pressure. Despite their efforts, Mildura proved too strong in the end, taking the win 52–33.

B Grade

REFNC 39 drew Mildura 39

Best: Shakira Hingano and Carmen Garreffa.

Robinvale Euston showed true grit and determination, clawing their way back from a twelve goal deficit to draw with Mildura in a thrilling 39–39 finish.

Sarah McMonnies and Amanda Healy were solid in goals. Combining beautifully under pressure they scored fifteen goals in the last quarter to keep the scoreboard ticking. In defence, Shakira Hingano and Hayley Smith turned it on, applying relentless pressure forcing turnovers to swing the momentum.

The centre court players were essential in linking defence to attack, moving the ball with pace and precision to set up scoring opportunities.

It was a gutsy team performance, proving that Robinvale Euston won’t back down—no matter the heat or the scoreboard.

The girls started the game strong, working well together and keeping the pressure on Mildura. Alannah Mezzatesta and Giann Egan worked tirelessly through the midcourt.  With Jess Curran and Bethany Waddell combining to score some impressive goals.  Defensively, Hayley Smith and Giselle Molluso provided a strong defence against the experienced Mildura shooters.  Great effort girls!

C Reserve

REFNC 27 defeated by Mildura 39

Best: Bethany Waddell and London Gallace.

The day started off challenging with a few players unavailable. Thankfully, a couple of Under 15s girls, who had just finished their own game, stepped up and played a crucial role. Their efforts helped the team take a four-goal lead into halftime. However, the Eagles ran out of steam in the second half.

The warm weather made conditions tough. Best on court was London Gallace, who delivered a consistently strong performance in defence, while Beth Waddell was on fire with her shooting.

17 Under Div 1

REFNC 15 defeated by Mildura 73

Awards: Lilah Best and Violet Camera.

Facing a very strong Mildura team, the Eagles came into the game knowing it would be a fight for every goal. Mildura’s height all through the court made every goal a celebration, with the defenders working well under pressure to get some hands on the ball and bring it down the court. With some rare but good passages of play, each goal was earned through strong leads and careful passes. Although it was a challenge, each player kept their head up and never gave up, playing for each other and encouraging one another throughout the game.
