Finals Fever: What Australians Are Searching as Robinvale-Euston Chases Finals Glory

Google Trends shows a surge in AFL finals interest as all five Robinvale-Euston football teams remain in the finals race.

Finals fever is building across Australia, with Google Trends data showing a sharp increase in interest in the AFL finals series as September approaches.

Search interest for the “AFL finals series” topic has jumped 450 per cent compared with the preceding month, while interest is also 20 per cent higher than the same period last year.

For the search term “AFL Finals”, interest has increased by 350 per cent compared with the previous month and is 30 per cent higher than the same period last year.

The latest Google Trends data also shows Australians are searching for the practical details surrounding finals, with “AFL matches”, “AFL finals matches”, “AFL live ladder”, “AFL finals tickets on sale” and “AFL finals explained” all recording breakout growth.

Other rising searches include questions about when finals tickets go on sale, the finals ladder and the finals format, highlighting the growing interest as the competition moves towards its biggest games of the season.

While the national football conversation centres on the AFL, there is plenty of finals excitement much closer to home, with five Robinvale-Euston football teams still in the hunt.

Three teams took to the field in Qualifying Finals at Red Cliffs last Saturday, with the Under 18s, Under 16s and Under 13s all going down in their respective matches.

However, their finals campaigns are far from over.

All three teams have earned a second chance and will now play in First Semi Finals this Sunday at the Mildura Sporting Precinct.

The Under 18s will face South Mildura, while the Under 16s will also meet South Mildura. The Under 13s will take on Mildura, with all three teams fighting to keep their seasons alive.

The Robinvale-Euston Reserves and Under 14s are in an even stronger position after finishing top of their respective ladders.

Both teams enjoyed a week off during the opening round of finals and will now return to the field for Second Semi Finals this Saturday at Blackburn Park in Ouyen.

The Reserves will face Irymple , while the Under 14s will meet Imperials.

With all five teams still competing, Robinvale-Euston has plenty of reason to share in the finals excitement sweeping across the country.
